Five in Boise

Every three years the girl scouts in this area get together for a huge campout.  Now why they chose Filer, Idaho fairgrounds I will never, ever know.  There are a million beautiful places to campout in Idaho and they pick the middle of no where and have everyone cram into a fairground and create a tent city.  Anyway, enough complaining, the girls have had a good time both times we have attended.  Last time E joined us but this year it was just C and I.  Last time the weather was beautiful, this time it rained and rained.  C and I set up our tent and then found out we were going to be sharing with one of the leaders.  That was okay but the leader had a suggestion that we put a tarp under our tent to keep it dry.  I went along because it seemed harmless.  That was until we realized that the tarp was collecting water and seeping in the bottom of the tent.  All of C's stuff was soaking wet, including sleeping bag.  I was lucky enough to have a cot.  Plus the wind was strong enough to flatten the tent.  We caught a break in the morning with a bit of sun and dried out all of C's stuff.  We enjoyed the company and some of the activities but I really don't think we will go again in three years.  Here are some shots of events....

This was the outfit the girls created using all recycled materials.  They had a skirt, top, hat, earrings, purse, and shoes.  And guess what they won first place!  Which turned out to be a bag of Twizlers but still, way to go girls!

We are now in the middle of summer and I am just getting around to getting caught up.  This time of year just flies by and we never get as much done as we would like but here are some highlights so far....
Mom came out in the beginning of June to go hiking/walking with me right outside of McCall, ID in Ponderosa State Park.  We had planned on joining the Ponderosa Run that happens every year but the event changed dates after mom had bought her ticket so we just made up our own walk in the same area.  It had been raining all the way up there so we were prepared to getting soaking wet but the sun came out the whole time we were walking.  It was beautiful out.  We went about 7 or 8 miles.  Then we stayed the night in an nice hotel in McCall and went out to dinner.  We got matching jackets to celebrate our 1st annual walk.  We will try to go to a walk in Steamboat Springs next year in Colorado.
